Louisiana Strong

As many of you know, August was a trying month for so many people here in Louisiana who were affected by the surprise flooding that took place.  What started out as a weekend that was approaching with impending rain..where I was already giving myself a high five for the justification I don't have to drag myself to the gym to finish losing this baby weight...ended up being one where people lost their homes. Their pets. Their businesses. Their memories.

The interstate down the road from me was shut down. I have heard of nearby neighborhoods getting a bit of flooding and some damage. I am thankful that ours held off on the flooding even though I would check outside every 10 minutes just to make sure.

I was taken aback with pride by the immediate response the community had to help one another. I was in awe learning about the Cajun Navy, seeing images on my news feed of people on their personal boats going around rescuing others and rescuing animals.  It made me proud to say that, while I did not grow up here, I was born here. And I live here now.  I have family here who some dodged the damage, and others were not so lucky.

As a mom of 2 small children I felt pretty helpless when it came to the relief efforts.  So I thought to myself, let's put what I do best to use!  I arranged a weekend of back to back mini sessions where 100% of the session fees were donated to charities to help families and animals affected by the floods.

We raised $700, y'all!!! I am so proud!! THANK YOU THANK YOU to those who booked with me, who donated that money and now get to have a few sweet gifts in return (adorable images of their little ones!).

Here are many of the images from their sessions!!  Please enjoy!!
