Welcome to Fairy Dust Photography: where the magic of infancy and childhood is captured and fairytales are written!
I started my journey in photography when my oldest little gal was only six months old. My husband, who is a Marine, was deployed and I took on the duty of documenting the day to day adventures of our little family. Being overseas on the small island of Okinawa, Japan with just my one kiddo (at the time), I had the perfect opportunity to learn the craft of photography. From learning my "grown up" camera to learning the ins and outs of retouching images.
In the beginning I offered everything: families, couples, newborns, infants, baby showers, sports games... anything that gave me the chance to get that experience. It was about five months in that I sat down one night and really thought about what makes my heart sing. Sure, I find weddings, couples, engagement sessions special, important, memorable and emotional sessions to be a part of... but man....babies. Babies get my heart melting. Maybe it is my mommy emotions guiding me, but everything about the beginning of motherhood where you are carrying a tiny human to the wrinkly newborn baby who's cries are little mews. I love seeing the milestone baby coming in throughout their first year and seeing them flaunt their rolls and big, bright eyes. I look forward to documenting them celebrate their first year with official portraits and, yes, the messy messy cake smash!
Having two little ones myself (3yr and 9mo) I know first hand just how mean 'Father Time' can be. I curse and rejoice when my babies achieve their milestones, whether it's cutting some teeth or learning how to wave. It just happens way too fast. This is why I do what I do. I do it to freeze time. Your memories. My memories. Memories we can look at when we wake up in the morning, walk down the hall and see that special day hanging with love on your hallway wall. Or, hanging above the crib in the nursery. Memories that can be enjoyed in a moment of quiet when all the little eyes are closed in the house for the night and Mom and Dad (or parents/family) cuddle on the couch looking through heirloom albums... forgetting about the giant tantrums in the tiniest of bodies that went on earlier that day. Memories that can be passed down for generations... because if we don't document our lives for us, then we must for our future! This is our legacy. This is the story that will be told from our children to our grandchildren.
This is our fairytale.
Let the memories begin!
